KEVIN
Hip Hop

Kevin is just 21 years of age, but dances as if he has been studying dance continuously for even longer! He is largely self-taught, with more serious dance training for just the past 2 years. Most of his training has been with Westlake Dance Center, with additional instruction at Applause Studio, Bally’s Total Fitness, Everett Dance Theatre, and No Limits Dance Studio. He has taken classes from a big wide range of chorographers/teachers, including Daniel Cruz, Ryan Chandler, Ivan Koumaev, Bryan Tanaka, Natalie Gilmore, Rex Kinney, Jessica Reely, Kari Lee and many others. Jodeena Soliven, Jennifer Greene, Anna Prettyman, and Cameron Lee have provided some additional training in modern, ballet, jazz and lyrical.

Notable workshop experience includes…

  • After the Battle (Breathe Stretch Shake) with Elmer Pizarro and Ivan Koumaev

  • Unrated 1 Workshop with Christine Kim, Daniel Cruz, Jazz Grant, Ivan Koumaev, Anna and Wade from Breaking Point, Kolanie Marks and Andrew Faulkner.

  • Unrated 2 Workshop with Shannon Rudolph, Tyson Edwards and Cameron Lee

  • Premier Dance workshop with Bryan Tanaka.

  • L.A. Elite dance workshop with Tony Testa, Christopher Jones and Courtney Miller.

In addition to the teaching and choreography he does with his students, Kevin has choreographed and staged pieces for dance groups Phyzikal Graffi-T, Entyce, the Mariner High School Dance Team, MHS Cheer Squad, MHS Step Team, and Raqad Dance Team.

Performance credits include numerous weddings, car shows, club events, benefit shows, fashion shows, recitals, dance competitions and many others. Kevin has danced during NFL Seattle Seahawks half time shows and the NBA Seattle Super Sonics pre show. His team (Entyce) took first place at the 2005 Tiki Torch Talent Competition, and he has also taken first place with Phyzikal Graffi-T at Canada’s Driven to Dance competition, and third place with Potion at Hot Import Nights. He worked with Daniel Cruz for Enlair in 2004 (which he considers considerable honor), and has done other major dance shows such as: Cruz Control – Battle of Seattle Round 3, Phyzikal Graffi-T’s Unrated 1 and 2, Breaking Point – Hip Hop Live 2004 and 2005.

Some choreographers he looks up to are Tony Testa and Misha Hamilton, in addition to local choreographers Bryan Tanaka, Daniel Cruz, Elmer Pizzaro, Ryan Chandler, and Shannon Rudolph. Kevin is a loyal, dedicated, and inspiring dancer/choreographer. He takes dancing and performing very seriously, works tirelessly as he gives 100%, but still brings fun into the classroom. Dancing is his dream, his passion, and his life—which is readily apparent to anyone who has seen him dance on stage. We are very grateful that he is part of our Applause Studio staff.
